An image is shared on social media in which a highway is widely shared with a caption claiming that it shows a bridge in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. A social media user shared the image with a caption that read, “इलाहाबाद जबसे प्रयागराज हुआ है फैज़ाबाद इलाहाबाद रोड का विकास तो हुआ है।” (English translationn, “Ever since Allahabad became Prayagraj, the Faizabad Allahabad Road has developed.”) Archived link

Fact Check

SouthCheck investigated and found this claim to be false; the image is actually of Qatar’s Al Wahda Bridge in Doha.

Using Google Reverse Image Search, we traced the photo to iStock, where it was posted on May 26, 2021, with the caption "Al Wahda Bridge in Doha City, known as 56 Bridge of Arch."

We also found the image on Freepik, labeled as an evening view of Doha’s Al Wahda Bridge.

A geolocation check confirmed that these distinctive arches are located on Doha’s Lusail Expressway.

Additionally, Wikipedia lists the same image as depicting Al Wahda Bridge in Qatar.

Hence we conclude that the viral image circulating as a bridge in Prayagraj is actually of Al Wahda Bridge in Qatar. The claim is false; the bridge shown is located in Doha, not in Prayagraj, India.
