Two images are being shared on social media which show men caught wearing women’s lingerie. Those sharing the images claim that the images show ISIS terrorists captured by the Syrian Army.

A social media user shared the photos with the caption, “Some people may not like the language of this post. But this is the dirty truth of brainwashing of IS terrorists caught in Syria. The Syrian Army caught many IS terrorists who were fighting wearing women’s underwear.” (translated from Hindi)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim was false. We found that the image showed the Turkish military humiliating Syrian refugees by forcing them to wear women’s lingerie.

On a Google reverse image search, we found the same image uploaded by DailyMail UK on August 3, 2017. The report stated that the Turkish military abused and humiliated Syrian refugees as they attempted to cross the border. In a recent incident, the Turkish Army forced the men to wear women’s lingerie.

Another report by CGTN suggested that Syrian refugees were forced to wear brightly coloured women’s lingerie after they were caught by Turkish soldiers.

The Sun also reported that the incident happened at the Turkish border in Hatay in the south of the country.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
