Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. We found that the viral video is of a flood from the torrential rains in Colombia in May 2024.

On doing a Google reverse image search, we found a similar video shared by Caracol Radio’s X account on May 5, 2024. The report suggested that a flash flood destroyed 30 homes in the municipality of Montebello in southwestern Antioquia, Columbia.

We compared a screenshot of the viral video with the one shared on the account and found them similar.

We further found that a screenshot of the video was also published by a website on May 4, 2024, with a caption that suggests that a torrential flood from the La Hondita ravine washed away several homes in Montebello.

The report was also published by another website.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
