A video is viral on social media in which a person is seen shooting down a chopper or plane. Those sharing the video claim that the video shows an Indian fighter helicopter being shot down by rebels in Manipur.
A social media user shared the video and wrote, “BREAKING NEWS. The Indian Helicopter was shot down by the resistance fighter in Indian-occupied Manipur state.”

SouthCheck found that the claim was false. We found that the video shows an attack on the helicopter of the Myanmar Air Force.
On doing a Google reverse image search, we found the same video tweeted by a journalist with a caption that reads, “#Myanmar: incredible recent footage of a #KIA resistance fighter shooting down a junta helicopter with a Chinese-made MANPADS as it was flying over the town of Waingmaw in #Kachin state.”
Another X handle of a news channel, Resonant News shared the video with a caption suggesting that it shows a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) shooting down Myanmar’s military junta helicopter with MANPADS.
Moreover, the PIB Fact Check department also took to Twitter and said that the viral claim was fake. The video is from Myanmar and not Manipur.
