A video is being widely shared on social media in which a man is seen assaulting a group of children one by one. Those sharing the video claim that the man is a Muslim teacher named Shakeel Ahmad Ansari at DPS school in Valsad, Gujarat.
A social media user shared the video with the caption, “This is Shakeel Ahmed Ansari, a teacher at DPS School, Rajbag, Valsad. Share it so much that both the teacher and the school get shut down.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim was false. The video is from an orphanage in Cairo, Egypt.
On doing a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded on a website on August 4, 2014, with the title, “Video of man ‘beating children at Egyptian orphanage’ sparks controversy.”
We found the same video uploaded by Headlines Today and the caption stated that an orphanage manager Osama Othman was torturing children in Egypt and his now estranged wife had taken the video of the incident.
DailyMail UK also reported about the incident.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old and is not from India.
