A video is being widely shared on social media in which a road is seen collapsing near a tunnel. The video is shared with a caption insinuating that the video is from India, showing the nation’s flawed infrastructure.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Anything and everything he’s ever built is crumbling right before our eyes... Soon we’ll be back where we were in 2014...”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim was false. We found that the video is from Turkey.

On doing a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded by a YouTube channel on July 14, 2023, with a description suggesting that the Daricabasi Road and Ordu-Sivas Road collapsed in Turkey due to heavy rains.

A website uploaded the same video on July 11, 2023. The report associated with the video suggested that under heavy downpours, the road collapsed at the exit of the Black Sea-Mediterranean Road in Ordu, Turkey.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is from Turkey and not India.
