Social media users are sharing a video of a crowd on the street. Users claim that it is the crowd at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

A social media user shared the video with a caption: “The great UP state handling crores of devotees. Ban VIP culture in religious places at least. #kumbh.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found the claim to be misleading. We found that the viral video is of a New Year celebration at Shri Radha Rani Temple in Barsana.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found that the same video was uploaded by a YouTube channel on January 1, 2025. The thumbnail of the video suggests that the video is of Shri Radha Rani Temple in Barsana.

The same video was also uploaded by an Instagram user on January 2, 2025. The caption clearly mentioned that it was from Barsana Dham.

We further found that the same video was also uploaded on the Radharani Barsanaa, which belongs to a spiritual and motivational speaker Shyam Sundar Goswami. He runs an NGO Shree Ju Barsana Mandal Trust. The video was shared on January 1, 2025.

While we could not find more details, we could ascertain that the viral video is old and unrelated to Maha Kumbh.
