West Bengal’s 2026 Assembly election is a high-stakes battle between Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party. Voting for all 294 seats was held in two phases on April 23 and 29. Campaigning saw sharp accusations, clashes and heavy security deployment.
Vote counting and results are scheduled for May 4, making Bengal one of India’s most closely watched political contests.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared in which a truck filled with boxes and surrounded by security personnel can be seen. The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it is of the second phase of voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections, where the BJP tried to rig the election. The text embedded in the video reads, “How BJP people came in trucks to change EVMs.”
A social media user shared the video with hashtags insinuating that it is of the West Bengal election. The caption read, “BJP Vote Chor #bjp #news #india #viralvideos #paschimbangal”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from 2025 during the Bihar elections, where a truck carrying empty tin boxes was accused of carrying away voting machines.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a Facebook page, Bihar ki Dahaar, on November 13, 2025. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “In Sasaram, a truck loaded with tin boxes entered the counting centre at midnight, causing chaos... slogans like “Vote thief, leave the throne” were raised... Bihar Ki Daar does not confirm the viral video.”
We further found that the video of the incident was also shared by Navbharat Times on November 13, 2025. In the video, at around 1:04 minutes, we can see the same visual as seen in the viral video. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “Bihar Election Result 2025: Truck reaches Strong Room premises in Sasaram, Rohtas, causing chaos NBT”
Using this information, we searched with relevant keywords and found that the incident was also reported by ABP Live on November 13, 2025.
According to the report, a political row erupted in Bihar’s Sasaram after a truck carrying empty boxes entered the counting centre late at night ahead of vote counting. Rashtriya Janata Dal alleged possible ‘vote theft’ and questioned why CCTV feeds were reportedly down. District officials reached the spot, while authorities said the truck carried empty tin boxes, not EVMs.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
