A 26-year-old man named Tarun was killed in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar after a violent clash during Holi celebrations on March 4.
The dispute reportedly began when an 11-year-old child accidentally splashed coloured water from a balloon on a woman, leading to an argument between two neighbouring families. The confrontation escalated into a mob assault in which Tarun was beaten with rods and later died during treatment.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is seen walking down a lane with people showering petals on him. Text embedded on the video reads, “Yogi ji, thank you very much for coming forward for justice for the youth in Uttam Nagar, Delhi.”
Social media users shared the video with a caption suggesting that Yogi Adityanath went to meet the family of Tarun in Uttam Nagar.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji came forward to provide justice to Tarun Bhai.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video shows Yogi Adityanath attending Holika Dahan in Gorakhpur.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that a similar video was shared by a hyperlocal Instagram news channel, Gorakhpur News, on March 2.
The video is shared with a caption that reads, “Gorakhpur.
