Brief clashes allegedly erupted in Mumbai’s Mira Road, a Muslim-majority area, after the inauguration of Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Mumbai police said that the situation was quickly brought under control.

Amid the reports of violence, many social media users have shared a video of a burning railway station and people throwing objects on the railway tracks, claiming that the Mira Road railway station was set on fire.

A social media user tweeted the video with the caption, “Current Situation of #MiraRoad Railway Station.”

Fact Check:

SouthCheck found the claim to be fake. The video is old and from West Bengal.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same video was uploaded by The Times of India on April 9, 2023. The caption associated with the video suggested that a massive fire broke out at Santoshpur railway station in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district.

We found the same video was also uploaded by another YouTube channel on April 7, 2023, mentioning that the incident was at Santoshpur railway station.

The incident was also reported by the Deccan Herald which suggested that the cause of the fire was not known. Moreover, no deaths or injuries happened during the fire.

We also found no reports of the fire at Mira Road railway station. Responding to the viral video, the official X account of Western Raliways also clarified that the information is false and the situation at Mira Road station is normal.

Hence, we can ascertain that an old video from West Bengal is being circulated with misleading claims.
