We contacted Nutritionist, Sujatha Stephen RD, Cheif Nutritionist, Yashoda Hospitals, with 20+ years of experience in the field to debunk the claim.

 She said, ‘No there is no clinical studies on this so. We can't say it will give u chubby cheeks but u might get I'll if u eat stale roti for long days.’

Nutritionist Stephen further added, ‘It is said eating stale food which is kept for more than 12 hours can lead to diarrhoea, food poisoning, acidity and many other problems. Not only this, it is also said reheating stale food may be fatal for health in some cases. To gain weight one should eat healthy diet with good amount of protein and good sleep will help in getting chubby cheeks.’

Although consuming stale chapatis soaked in milk sometimes have certain benefits with constipation and digestion but it's not for everyone. People with sensitive gut and few with gluten intolerance will have side effects. And it should not be more than 24 hrs and depends on the temperature you store it.
