Kangana Ranaut shares an old and misleading report to suggest PM Modi to get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut shared a news clip suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the biggest contender for the Nobel Peace Prize. The report also had a video byte of a member of the Laureate committee, Asle Toje, hailing PM Modi.

The video was shared with a caption that reads, “Nobel prize committee member speaks about the prospects of our Prime Minister getting the Nobel Prize.”

Fact Check:

SouthCheck found the claim to be misleading. The video clip is old, and Asle Toje himself denied the claim.

We observed that the video had the logo of Times Now. Taking a hint, we searched with appropriate keywords and found the same video was uploaded by The Times of India on March 16, 2023. In the report, it was mentioned that Asle Toje lauded PM Modi and said that he is one of the elder statesmen of the world and the most reliable face for peace.

We further found that, at that time, media reports suggested that the report was fake.

AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair tweeted a video by ANI on March 16, 2023. In the video, Asle Toje is heard saying that he is in India to talk about politics and development, and the other rumors are fake.

LiveMint also reported on the same. The report suggested that Asle Toje denied the rumors of PM Modi being a strong contender for the Nobel Prize. He further stated that he was in India as a Director of International Peace and Understanding, as a friend of India, and not as Deputy Leader of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

Hence, we can ascertain that the video shared by Kangana Ranaut is misleading.
