A video of Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan is being widely shared on social media. In the clip, Paswan is seen criticising the Bihar government over the alleged rise in crime in the state.
The video is shared with a caption suggesting that Paswan recently attacked the BJP government led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Chirag Paswan takes to the streets against his own government !!” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from July 2025 and shows the Union Minister criticising the Nitish Kumar-led government, not the Samrat Choudhary administration.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by First Bihar on July 26, 2025. The video is shared with a caption that reads, “Chirag feels sad to support Nitish.”
We found that the video was also shared by Dainik Bhaskar, 10 months ago. According to the report, Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan launched a sharp attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state. Citing rising incidents of murder, robbery and violence, Paswan said he felt “ashamed” to support a government that has failed to ensure public safety. While remaining part of the NDA, he questioned the state administration’s handling of crime and demanded urgent corrective measures to restore citizens’ confidence.
The incident was also reported by The Times of India.
Moreover, we found that in April 2026, Bihar witnessed a major political transition when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned from office after being elected to the Rajya Sabha and moved to national politics. Following his resignation on April 14, the BJP elected Samrat Choudhary as its legislative party leader. He was sworn in as Bihar’s first BJP Chief Minister on April 15, marking the first time the state came under direct BJP leadership while remaining part of the NDA alliance.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old, from when Nitish Kumar was the CM of Bihar.
