A video of a public screening of a documentary on Babri Masjid has gone viral. Those sharing the video claim that the screening was done in Bangladesh to fuel the alleged ongoing violence against Hindus in the country.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “This video is being shown deliberately in Bangladesh to increase violence against Hindu people.” (Translated from Hindi) (Archive)

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is from Maharashtra, where workers of SDPI organised the screening.

On a Google reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded on the YouTube channel of SDPI Kalwa Mumbra on December 6, 2024. It was titled, ‘Babri Masjid Timeline Exhibition | SDPI Mumbra at Darul Falah | A Journey Through History…’

We observed that the flags in the background were that of the Social Democratic Party of India, a political party in India. The flag is red and green with a white star on it. The party aims to raise the issue of the development of all the citizens of India including Muslims, Dalits, Backward Classes and Adivasis.

We also geo-located the place in the video using Google Maps and found that the mosque in the background is in Mumbra named Darul Falah.

We also found that the video was shared on SDPI Mumbra Kalwa's Instagram page. The event was held on the Babri demolition anniversary to discuss the incident and talk about the tensions and debates over secularism and justice.

We reached out to the contact on the Instagram page, and the article will be updated after receiving their response.

However, we found that the video was from India and not Bangladesh.
