‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ is a Bollywood movie that released on March 19 across the globe. The movie became a massive box office success, nearing record-breaking numbers globally.

In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which a massive crowd can be seen going inside a theatre. The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows the rush during the Dhurandhar 2 movie.

A social media user shared the video with a text embedded on it that reads, “The Dhurandhar 2 tsunami is coming. Some people are sure to lose their sleep at night.” (Translated from Hindi)

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is old and shows the crowd rushing for the movie Gadar 2.

On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by the X account of Deccan Chronicle on January 9. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “#TheRajaSaab fever grips #Hyderabad. Fans throng to the theatres to catch #Prabhas for the first time in a romantic- horror-comedy movie.

Since the post predates the release of Dhurandhar 2, we can ascertain that the viral video is old.

We further found that the longer version of the same video was shared by an X account on August 13, 2023.

The video was shared with a caption that reads, “Craze of Gadar 2 in Bangalore is on a whole different level. Never seen this much craze what an experience.”

In the longer version, at around 27 seconds, we can see the posters of Gadar 2 outside the theatre. In another video shared in the same post, we can see the large cutout of the Gadar 2 movie outside the theatre.

While we couldn’t independently verify the movie the rush was about, we can conclude that the viral claim is false since the video predates the release of Dhurandhar 2.
