Conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate with Israel announcing ground operations in Southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah while planning to avenge Iran’s missile attack on October 1.
In this context, an image has gone viral showing something very large being transported on a truck, as shot from a passing car. Those sharing the image claim it shows Iran transporting their missiles on the road as part of its plan to attack Israel.
A social media user shared the image and wrote, “Road-mobile ballistic missile launchers are being moved around inside Iran – the missile force is at 100% readiness in all regions. Iran announced that it would bomb Israel immediately if Israel made the mistake of attacking them. (sic)”
SouthCheck found that the claim was false. The image is old and unrelated to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.
Through a Google reverse image search, we found the same image shared by an X account on October 20, 2023, with the caption, “PHOTOS surface online showing Iranian strategic ballistic missile launchers on the move on Tehran-Qom highway.”
The image was also found on a website with a caption suggesting that several social media users have shared images of ballistic missile launchers being transported as seen on the streets of Iran at night. The image was shared in 2023. The same was also stated on another website with the same image shared in 2023.
Although SouthCheck couldn’t find the source of the image, we can conclude that the image is old and unrelated to the Israel-Iran conflict.
