A video of a man attacking a judge while others come to her rescue is widely being circulated on social media.
The video is shared with a caption that suggests that a Muslim man attacked a judge in the United States during a trial.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “*अमेरिका के वेगास के कोर्ट रूम में सजा सुनाते समय मुस्लिम आरोपी ने जज पर हमला कर दिया*••• अब अमरीका ओर यूरोपीय यूनियन को भी इन शान्तिदूतों कि जहालियत का अहसास हो रहा है, यूरोपीय यूनियन शरणार्थियों के प्रति अपने नर्म रूख के लिए अब पछता रही हैl…”
“A Muslim man who was under trial attacked a judge while he was being sentenced in a Vegas courtroom in America. Now the US and the European Union are also realizing the ignorance of these peace ambassadors. European Union is now regretting their soft stance towards refugees,” reads its English translation.
SouthCheck found the claim to be misleading. We found that the man in the video is an American who was undertrial for attempting battery with substantial bodily harm.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found that the same video was uploaded by Mirror.co.uk on February 16, 2024.
The report suggests that Judge Mary Kay Holthus was about to sentence 30-year-old Deobra Redden in an attempted battery case when he jumped over a judicial bench and attacked her.
The Sun TV had also reported the incident. According to this report, the judge had hit her head during the attack but was fine.
None of the reports mentioned any communal angle to the story.
Hence, we can ascertain that no communal angle is involved in this video.
