The NDA government in Bihar enforced a five-hour statewide bandh on September 4, led by women’s wings of BJP, JD(U) and allies, to protest derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother. The remarks were allegedly made during the Congress-led ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga.

In the above context, a video of a group of people, including some women, fighting against each other has gone viral. Those sharing the video claim it shows the Bihar bandh.

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Bihar bandh. I am also a mother.” (Translated from Malayalam)

Fact Check

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is old and is from Maharashtra’s Nasik.

The video was shared with a caption stating that a violent clash broke out between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, along with their relatives, outside a Nashik court.

A screenshot of the video was also shared by Lok Satta on February 23.

According to the report, a wild brawl broke out outside the Nashik district court when a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, joined by relatives, physically fought, sitting on each other, tearing clothes, and even toppling a nearby vehicle, before police intervened and filed charges.

We found that the incident was also reported by Kalinga TV on February 22.
