A video showing schoolchildren has gone viral. The video shows them washing plates in the open while pigs can be seen strolling in stagnant water nearby.
Those sharing the video claim it shows the condition of a government school in Araku, Andhra Pradesh, under the current Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “You have destroyed Andhra schools, right? Location: Araku village. #CBNFailedCM”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is old and from Telangana, not Andhra Pradesh.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Member of Parliament from Bharat Rashtra Samithi representing Chevella, Telangana. He shared the video on September 26.
The video was shared with a caption that reads, “This is a scene in a state government school... Pigs enjoying a sewage water pool created by a malfunctioning drainages in the school. Guess which state this is in? (sic)”
We further found that the screenshot of the video was also shared by a Telugu Website, Disha Daily, on September 23, 2023. The report associated with the screenshot suggested that the viral video shows the premises of a government school in Marikal village, Narayanpet constituency, Telangana.
Moreover, the official fact-check handle of the Andhra government on X debunked the viral claim on September 18.
They wrote, “Bringing school videos from a neighbouring state in the year 2023 and now calling them Andhra Pradesh school is completely fake propaganda. This matter was fact-checked in 2023 itself. Legal action will be taken against those who deliberately spread such fake propaganda to tarnish the government’s reputation.”
Moreover, we found that the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, came into power on June 12, 2024. Prior to him, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was in power.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral claim is false.
