Fact Check: Does the viral video show an attack by an Iraqi resistance drone on the Haifa power station?

A video of an explosion is widely being shared on social media, with a caption claiming that it is of a drone attack done on the powerplant of Haifa airport by an Iraqi resistance drone. 


A social media user shared the video with a caption that read, “Iraqi Islamic Resistance targeted the power station at Haifa airport on Tuesday in a drone attack. The group stated the operation was carried out in solidarity with the people in Gaza.”

Fact Check

SouthCheck found the claim to be false. The viral video is of an explosion that happened at a warehouse in Michigan, United States.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same video was uploaded by a YouTube channel on March 5, 2024. The caption associated with the video suggests that it is of massive fire plant at Clinton township,

Another video of the same incident was uploaded to the same YouTube channel from various angles.

The incident was also reported by the New York Post. The description suggested that a teenager was killed by a canister sent flying through the air from a huge explosion at a vaping company a quarter of a mile away. The explosion was heard as far as 15 miles away.

The Iraqi armed forces have announced that they have targeted Haifi airport with drones on March 6, 2024, in support of the Palestanians besieged in the Gaza strip.
