India vs Pakistan’s Asia Cup match was held on September 15. The match leaned into politics when India refused the customary post-match handshake, citing solidarity with Pahalgam terror attack victims. Even while calls for a boycott trended online, many fans still tuned in and watched the match.
In the above context, a video has gone viral which shows attendees at a sporting event waving a huge poster of an Indian soldier and singing praises for India and the Indian Army.
Those sharing the video claim the video was shot during the India-Pakistan match at the Asia Cup 2025.
A social media user shared the video and wrote, “Indians put up a strong performance during the Indo-Pak match.” (Translated from Malayalam)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video was old and from an IPL match.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by an official YouTube channel of the Delhi Capitals on May 18, with a caption that reads, “For our heroes.”
An analysis of the videos showed that both are the same.
Further, at around 17 seconds, we found that the people can be seen wearing jerseys with DC and Delhi Capitals logos on them.
Moreover, we compared the jersey that people were wearing in the viral video with the image of the jersey of the Delhi Capitals and found them to be the same.
We also found that the same video was shared on the official Instagram page of the Delhi Capitals on May 18.
The event was also reported by The Hans India on May 18.
According to the report, before their IPL 2025 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, players from Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans, along with match officials, stood together singing the national anthem.
The screens displayed “Thank you, armed forces”, and fans chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” It was following a 10-day break caused by India–Pakistan hostilities when IPL 2025 resumed with its first full match post-pause.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is old and the claim is false.
