A video of a police official being shoved violently and abused has gone viral. Those sharing the footage claim the abuser in the video is a politician.  

A social media user shared the video and wrote, “A parent educates his son and sends him to work and these politicians misbehave like this.” (Translated from Hindi)

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The violent person in the video is a gym trainer and not a politician.

On a Yandex reverse image search, we found the same video uploaded on YouTube on April 15, 2021. The caption stated that the video showed an incident where a gym owner thrashed police personnel in Delhi. The report further stated that the Delhi police initiated a probe after they came to know about the incident.

With more relevant keywords, we also found the video on the YouTube channel of OneIndia News, dated April 15, 2021. The caption stated that the man beating the police was a gym owner and the assault took place two weeks ago on April 1 near the Uttam Nagar area in Delhi.

The incident was also reported by The Times of India on April 15, 2021. The report stated that the police registered a case against the gym owner seen in the video assaulting a police officer.

Therefore, we conclude that the viral claim is false.
