A video allegedly showing Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel publicly criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone viral on social media. In the clip, the man in uniform is seen accusing the government of corruption and calling for the BJP’s removal from power, while bystanders record him.

The video has been widely shared with claims that it shows ‘real CRPF personnel’ speaking out against the Prime Minister and the BJP government, accusing them of looting the country and urging people to remove the BJP from power.

The text embedded in the video reads, “In a country where a vote-thief like Narendra Modi has taken power—looting temple treasuries and the education system.” (Translated from Hindi)

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “#bjphataodeshbachao”

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video was AI-generated.

On closely observing, we could find several key indicators pointing to the video being artificially created.

Analysis of the video

For example, upon close examination of the footage, the individual’s name tag simply displays ‘CRPF,’ which is not consistent with the standard identification format used on official CRPF uniforms. Additionally, several faces visible in the background appear blurred and distorted, a common indicator found in AI-generated videos.

Moreover, the viral clip contains a visible Grok watermark in the bottom-right corner, suggesting that the content may have been created or modified using AI tools.

We further analysed the video using Hive Moderation’s AI detection tool, which found a 99.9 per cent likelihood that the content contains AI-generated or deepfake elements.

Govt warns about AI footage

The government’s PIB Fact Check unit has also flagged the footage as AI-generated and clarified that it is not authentic. They took to X to refute the claim with a caption that reads, “Deepfake Video Alert! A digitally manipulated video is circulating on social media claiming to be of a CRPF personnel.  #PIBFactCheck: This video is #Fake and AI generated..."

We also find no credible recent news reports about such an incident involving CRPF personnel publicly criticising the Prime Minister.
