A video circulated on social media showing a girl being thrown into an open sewer from a parked car, followed by a man exiting the vehicle and kicking her into a drain.

Some posts claimed the footage showed a real incident after a late-night party and that the girl was heavily intoxicated.

A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “A girl, dead drunk from liquor, was thrown into a drain after a night party. This is what happens to girls who try to become too modern. So listen to what your elders say; at the very least, you won’t get thrown into a drain.” (Translated from Hindi)

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is a movie scene from ‘Mom’.

We did a Google search to look for credible news reports confirming whether the incident shown in the video happened anywhere in India, but found no such reports. If it were real, mainstream media would likely have covered it.

Through a Google reverse image search, we found a YouTube upload on the Bollywood Premium channel, where at around the 24:10-minute mark, the same scene appears. The longer clip, which runs over two hours, makes it clear the footage isn’t a real event but a scene from the 2017 film Mom. The description of the YouTube video reads, “Mom (2017) - Superhit Hindi Movie With English Subtitles | Sridevi, Sajal Ali & Nawazuddin.”

We compared the viral video with the screenshot of the movie and saw that in both videos, the girl was wearing a red dress. Similarly, we can see the same car in both videos, all of which suggest that the viral video was taken from the Mom movie and passed off as a real incident.
