A video showing a massive fire engulfing a large building has gone viral on social media. In the video, we can see intense flames and thick smoke rising from what appears to be a massive warehouse. People can be seen recording the video from a distance. The video is shared with a song as background music.
The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows an Israeli attack on critical infrastructure in Iran, escalating tensions in the Middle East.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “BREAKING: Israel has launched strikes on key locations in Iran, reportedly causing significant damage to critical infrastructure.”
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video is from a Ukrainian drone strike on a Russian warehouse.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the screenshot of the same video was shared by Firstpost on August 16.
The report associated with the image suggests that a massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Moscow region on August 16 set a Wildberries logistics warehouse near Podolsk ablaze, sending thick smoke over the area. The strike was part of one of Ukraine’s largest drone assaults since the war began. Russia reported intercepting hundreds of drones, while Ukrainian officials said Wildberries facilities were targeted to disrupt logistics allegedly supporting Russia’s military.
The screenshots of the incident were also shared by News 18 on April 16. The caption read, “Ukraine struck the Wildberries site in Podolsk in its largest drone attack.”
According to the report, Russia attacked Ukraine’s ArcelorMittal steel plant in Kryvyi Rih, killing two people and injuring 14, while damaging power and blast-furnace facilities and partially halting operations. Ukraine launched a major drone offensive targeting Moscow and other Russian regions, killing civilians and striking strategic infrastructure, including a missile-fuel facility in Rostov.
An X account also shared the viral video on August 16, with a caption suggesting that Ukraine launched a major overnight drone attack on Russia’s Moscow region on August 16, setting fire to Wildberries’ Koledino warehouse and another logistics hub.
Moscow claimed hundreds of drones were intercepted, while airports were temporarily suspended. Ukraine said Wildberries facilities support Russian drone production, a claim denied by the company and the Kremlin. The broader campaign has reportedly targeted over 20 Wildberries sites, causing significant economic losses and casualties. This X account was also embedded in the report of News 18.
Has Israel carried out strikes against Iranian targets recently?
There are reports that Israel has intensified strikes on key Iranian sites, targeting nuclear and industrial infrastructure. Recent attacks hit the Khondab heavy-water complex near Arak and facilities in Isfahan, which hosts major nuclear infrastructure. Earlier strikes also damaged Iranian steel plants and energy infrastructure. The campaign has expanded beyond military targets, raising concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme, industrial capacity and the wider risk of escalation.
While there are reports of Israel attacking Iranian targets, we can, however, ascertain that the viral claim is false.
