A four-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Seemapuri area on October 7, killing five people, including a 12-year-old girl and a 21-year-old pregnant woman.

In the above context, a video purporting to be CCTV footage of the collapse has gone viral on social media. The footage shows a multi-storey structure crumbling to the ground in a matter of seconds.

The video is shared with a caption claiming that it is of the Seemapuri incident. A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Multi-storey building collapses in Delhi's Seemapuri. A horrifying scene of the accident has emerged in a CCTV-like video. On October 7, a portion of a multi-storey building in the Seemapuri area suddenly collapsed. According to initial reports, at least 5 people were injured, and 2-3 people were feared trapped under the debris. Relief and rescue operations are ongoing.”

SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The viral video is AI-generated and does not show the actual Seemapuri building collapse.

While closely observing the video, we saw certain glitches. For instance, the running timestamp in the video shows 15:27:16, then suddenly jumps back to 15:27:12 before moving to 15:27:18, a physical impossibility in real CCTV footage.

Similarly, the motorcyclist moves unnaturally. As the building collapses, a motorcyclist who was moving forward suddenly begins moving backwards, a clear sign of AI manipulation.

We further checked the video using an AI detection tool. We checked with AI Detection Video, Detect Video AI and found that it shows 52 per cent.

While video is heavily laden with text, making it difficult for AI-detection tools to identify. However, based on the above evidence, we can ascertain that the viral video is AI-generated.
