For the first time, patients can share their experiences about the doctor and the hospital they visited for treatment in an integrated platform. Bharosa, a Gurugram-based company has conceived the novel idea and launched the portal to empower patients with detailed information.

How does Bharosa work?

Launched first in Gurugram, any patient who visits a private healthcare facility can register their feedback in the portal based on their experience with the doctor and the hospital while protecting their identity.

The portal will rate their experience against a set of preset values and provide a ‘Bharosa score’ for future reference. With the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the search for the right doctor would be made easier for those visiting the portal.

Based on Indian experience

The makers said that so far there is no dedicated platform to find doctors or hospitals with a specific rating from the patients. With the launch of Bharosa, the platform would provide a detailed report on the experiences of the patients.

Vandit Jain, co-founder and CEO of Bharosa said, “The portal is launched based on unique experiences in Indian medical and healthcare facilities. The patient experience in central and north India is not great.”

The other founders of the portal, Dr Amit Gupta is a new-born intensive care clinician based out of Oxford and Nidhi Bharani, the chief AI officer brings in rich experience in medical and technological arenas.

Patients can share experience

The portal enables a patient to register their feedback on submitting their proof of visit, which includes the prescription and invoice among others. They would have to answer specific questions on the portal, 80 per cent of which is objective and 20 per cent subjective.

“This would ensure the experiences were recorded precisely. This would enable the patients to stay away from misguidance, wrong prescriptions, overcharging and improper diagnosis,” Vandit Jain said.

The feedback submitted by the patients would be verified and rated against a standard norm, which will help in generating a ranking for the doctor and hospital, including the behaviour, diagnosis, hygiene, and pre and post-operative care.

“We will also include the number of surgeries done by the hospital, the success rate and other crucial details. This would empower the patients with the information they need before seeking an appointment,” Vandit Jain added.

AI for a simpler search process

With Gurugram being a hub for international patients and domestic patients from states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, the AI technology is used to get simplified and precise doctor search in the portal.

“AI technology is being utilised to make an easy doctor search option in the portal. This would make the search process more simple, precise and effective,” Vandit Jain said.  The organisation plans to expand to tier 1, 2 and 3 cities in the near future besides providing vernacular support.
