The Israel–Iran war remains highly volatile despite a fragile ceasefire since April 8. Peace talks have failed, and tensions are rising again, especially after the US imposed a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, pushing oil prices above $100. Israel continues strikes in Lebanon, while Iran has warned of retaliation. Diplomacy is ongoing, but risks of a wider regional escalation remain extremely high.
In the above context, a video is being widely shared on social media in which smoke is coming out of a yellow building.
The video is shared with a caption suggesting that it shows Iran targeting Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and the building in the video houses the Defence Ministry.
A social media user shared the video with a caption that reads, “Has Iran killed the Israeli Defence Minister? This building is being claimed to belong to the Israeli Defence Minister, and it is said to have been heavily damaged in an Iranian attack.” (Translated from Hindi)
SouthCheck found that the claim is false. The video is from Brazil and shows a fire accident in a building.
On closely observing the video, we can see that the text written on the firefighting vehicle reads, BOMBEIRO MILITAR. We found that it is the Military Firefighters Corps (Portuguese: Corpo de Bombeiros Militar) responsible for civil defence, firefighting and search and rescue inside Brazil.
On a Google reverse image search, we found that the same video was shared by a YouTube channel Spot on News on January 2. The caption reads, “Gas exploded in a burning supermarket in Brazil. The force of the detonation injured six firefighters.”
We further found that the screenshot of the video was shared by a website, Grupopilau, on December 31, 2025.
The report suggests that a fire at a supermarket in Santana do Livramento, Brazil, near the Uruguay border, triggered an explosion as firefighters prepared to enter. Six firefighters—five Brazilian and one Uruguayan—were injured, with one suffering a broken leg, but all are stable. Three employees were also hospitalised. Authorities said the blast may have been caused by air displacement. The fire later came under control, and investigations was ongoing.
The incident was further reported by a Portuguese website, Portal Leodias on December 31, 2025.
Hence, we can ascertain that the viral video is from 2025 and from Brazil.
